Our Story

How did we start?

Welcome to BushManDan’s, where premium, hand-crafted Murray Cod flies are born from passion, patience, and time spent in the great Australian outdoors.

BushManDan’s began with Danny — “the Bush Man” — a bloke with a lifelong love for fishing, rivers, and everything that comes with chasing big cod in wild water. Fishing wasn’t just a hobby for Danny; it was how he switched off, recharged, and connected with nature.

When Danny’s wife was pregnant with their first child, time on the water became limited. Rather than drifting away from the sport he loved, Danny found a new way to stay connected — he decided to learn how to hand-craft his own lures and flies, preparing for the day he’d be back casting lines again.

What started as a way to pass the time quickly turned into something more. Danny discovered he had a natural knack for lure making — an eye for detail, balance, and movement that translated directly into fish-catching performance. He began tying flies for mates, testing them in real conditions, refining designs, and listening closely to feedback.

The response was overwhelming.

With encouragement from friends and fellow anglers — and plenty of proven results on the water — Danny took a big step forward and created BushManDan’s: a brand dedicated to custom, hand-crafted Australian fishing lures made by an Australian angler, for Australian fishermen.

Every fly is meticulously hand-tied, not mass-produced. No shortcuts. No machines. Just hands-on craftsmanship, river-tested designs, and a deep understanding of Murray Cod behaviour. Each lure reflects real experience, countless casts, and a genuine respect for the fish we chase.

Whether you’re a seasoned cod angler or just starting your journey, you can fish with confidence knowing your lure was made with passion, knowledge, and pride — not in a factory, but by an Aussie bloke who lives and breathes this sport.

BushManDan’s isn’t just about lures.
It’s about stories, rivers, patience, and the thrill of the strike.

See you on the water. 🎣
